This charming 1985 HBO film pairs Mary Tyler Moore and Robert Preston in a June-September, if not May-December, romance. Their accidental friendship is purely platonic at the outset, as Michael Finnegan, played by Preston, is devoted to a wife several years older than he, and as Liz DeHaan, played by Moore, is seeing a married man. Sylvia Sidney and Sam Waterston star in the supporting roles. The musical score by David Sanborn and Michael Colina, featuring Sanborn’s familiar saxophone sound, won a CableACE award. This video is a transfer from a VHS recording of the film, which has not been released in digital format.
